CSA Engineer - Underground Structures

We’re looking for a CSA Engineer with a proven background in underground concrete structures to join our delivery team on a high-profile data centre project in Groningen, Netherlands. This is your chance to apply your technical know-how on deep basements, utility tunnels, service trenches, culverts, or similar heavy civils elements – in an international, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be the on-site lead for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of all underground structural elements on the project.

• Structural Oversight: Manage the execution of reinforced concrete structures below ground, including formwork, rebar, waterproofing systems, and deep foundations.
• Setting Out & QA: Oversee accurate setting out of works and manage quality inspections, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Design Interface: Interpret and implement detailed technical designs, and liaise closely with the design team to resolve issues and ensure buildability.
• Team Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors, foremen, engineers, and site management to ensure smooth delivery of underground packages.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations, underground safety protocols, and site environmental standards.
• Reporting: Maintain detailed progress records, prepare daily/weekly reports, and support with site documentation and design markups.

What We’re Looking For

• Solid experience working on underground reinforced concrete structures – e.g. basements, culverts, trenches, utility tunnels, tanks, or similar.
• A civil/structural engineering background, ideally within large-scale infrastructure or industrial builds.
• Strong understanding of temporary works, dewatering systems, and safe excavation practices.
• Experience working to tight tolerances and high spec QA regimes.
• Familiar with CAD and capable of interpreting complex design layouts.
• Confident communicator with the ability to lead coordination on-site and flag critical path or interface issues early.
