As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for assisting the Senior Quantity Surveyor in managing all costs relating to a project. This includes aiding the process of minimising the costs of a project and enhance value for money and project profitability.
Once a project has commenced, main duties will be to liaise with the site team and assess the value of the works, capture variations to the original scope within the contract, all with the guidance of the Senior Quantity Surveyor. Ensuring that all relevant documents reflect blu-3 policies. You should report on: Cost/Value, Subcontractor Liability Sheet (To assist with the CVR process), Forecasting values and Aiding with the profit of a contract.
What you’ll be doing
• Assist with the preparation of reports about projected building costs for internal use and client review
• Ensure correct contractual procedures are operated at project level
• Assist with the accurate forecasting of workload, financial needs and blu-3 profitability
• Visit building sites to monitor the progress and to check that the work is being captured
• Assist to ensure all commercial activities are performed in an ethical manner while maintaining a competitive position in blu-3
• Assist with the preparation of a statement of final account recording the actual costs of the project
• Perform risk, value management and cost control
• Value completed work and arrange payments and issue applications for payments to clients
• Any other reasonable requests as required by Management

What we’re looking for
• HNC – Built environment (professional qualification in a relevant subject)
• Working knowledge of costing, estimation techniques, contract law and commercial practice
• Knowledge of construction contracts and related procurement contract documents and practice
• The ability to make decisions in areas where required
• Motivated and a great team player
• Independent, challenging mind, with the ability to make decisions in areas directly affecting other managers from across blu-3 in a pragmatic and professional manner
• Good interpersonal relationship skills with a confident, resilient approach
