We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead and manage the commissioning process for a new or existing data centre project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all critical systems—including power, cooling, and IT infrastructure—are tested, validated, and optimized for reliable 24/7 operations. This role requires a deep understanding of mission-critical environments, adherence to industry standards (Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, ISO, etc.), and collaboration with design, construction, and operational teams.
What you’ll be doing
Commissioning Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement a commissioning plan for the data centre project.
- Define and manage commissioning schedules, ensuring alignment with construction milestones.
- Oversee pre-functional, functional, and integrated system testing of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and IT systems.
- Ensure testing is conducted according to Tier level certification (Tier III/Tier IV) and industry best practices.
Technical & System Validation
- Review and approve commissioning documentation, including test scripts, checklists, and procedures.
- Manage Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Verify performance of critical systems, including:
- Electrical Systems: UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs.
- Cooling Systems: CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, airflow management.
- Fire & Safety Systems: VESDA, fire suppression, BMS/SCADA monitoring.
- Security & IT Infrastructure: Access control, CCTV, structured cabling.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure commissioning activities adhere to Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO, and local regulations.
- Conduct system reliability tests, load bank testing, and power failure simulations.
- Identify and resolve system deficiencies before project handover.
Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with design engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure commissioning success.
- Lead commissioning meetings and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
- Support training and knowledge transfer to operations and maintenance teams.
Documentation & Handover
- Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning reports, issue logs, and close-out documents.
- Ensure all systems meet the required performance metrics before handover to operations.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance teams.

What we’re looking for
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in commissioning critical infrastructure, preferably in data centres, power plants, or industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, data centre power & cooling infrastructure, and industry standards.
- Experience working on Tier III or Tier IV data centre projects.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve commissioning issues.
- Familiarity with DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) software and BMS/SCADA systems.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel to site locations as required.
Preferred Certifications (Highly Desirable):
- Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Specialist (ATS) or Tier Designer (ATD)
- Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP)
- Commissioning Process Management Professional (CxM)
- LEED AP / Energy Management Certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE2
